The 22nd Annual Herbert Rubin and Justice Rose Luttan Rubin International Law Symposium at NYU School of Law organized by the NYU Journal of International Law and Politics was held on November 17th, 2016 and was entitled Parsing the Trans-Pacific Partnership: The Implications of the Trade Deal for Human Rights, Labor, and the Economy. The symposium brought together academics and practitioners in the areas of human rights, trade, and labor to examine the Trans-Pacific Partnership, its aspirations, and its future following the election of Donald Trump.

The day was concluded with a keynote address by Ambassador (r.) David Huebner. Ambassador (r.) Huebner held senior positions in the Asia Pacific region, including as the US Ambassador to New Zealand and Samoa, chairman and CEO of a large international law firm, founding chief representative of an AmLaw 100 law firm in Shanghai, and special policy assistant to a member of the lower house of Japan’s Diet. He is currently a Partner at Arnold & Porter LLP where he serves as arbitrator and represents corporations, governments, and NGOs in international disputes. Ambassador (r.) Huebner has more than two decades of experience handling commercial, investment, and intellectual property arbitrations in the technology, telecommunications, life sciences, energy, construction, and infrastructure sectors. In 2016, President Barack Obama appointed Ambassador (r.) Huebner to a six-year term as member of the Panel of Arbitrators of the International Centre for the Settlement of Investment Disputes (ICSID).

Attendees received up to 6.5 hours of CLE credit for participation. The event was appropriate for both newly admitted and experienced attorneys.
